Payments & Insurance

My self-pay rate is $135 for a therapeutic hour (55 minutes). I am credentialed with several insurances through a third party company called Headway whom I use for billing insurance, and also invoice for self-pay through SimplePractice. I do ask to ensure there is an active card on file before our first appointment and for all subsequent appointments to ensure no interruption in billing.

The insurance carriers I work with in Virginia are:

  • Aetna

  • United Healthcare/Optum

  • Anthem BCBS

  • Carefirst BCBS HMO/PPO Plans

  • Carelon

  • Cigna/Evernorth

The insurance carriers I work with in Washington, D.C. are:

  • United Healthcare/Optum

  • Cigna

  • Carelon

If you would like to avoid using your insurance for any reason, I will provide an opt-out form for you to sign and you will be charged my full fee. I can also provide you with a superbill each month that you can submit to your insurance for full or partial reimbursement, depending on your coverage.

**Regarding no-shows or late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice), if you are not using insurance you will be charged the full self-pay fee of $135. If you are using insurance, you will be charged the rate you and your insurance pay for our sessions. Please note that insurance does not pay for missed appointment fees and this will be an out-of-pocket expense.

No-show/late cancellation fees may be waived on a case-by-case basis, including if we are able to reschedule our session for some time within the same week or cancellation/missed appointment was necessitated by personal/family emergency, sudden illness, or similar.

Likewise, I will make every effort to notify you via phone call, text message, or email as soon as possible if I experience any sudden changes that require cancellation or rescheduling.

Late Cancellations & No-Show Fees

Good Faith Estimate Disclaimer for Psychotherapy Services

Under the law, health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy.

This is called a Good Faith Estimate and it explains how much your mental health care is expected to cost.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate:

  • When you schedule a service, or upon request.

  • In writing, at least one business day before your appointment or service.

  • That includes the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychotherapy, assessments, and other related services.

Please note:

  • This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to receive services from this provider.

  • The actual cost of services may vary depending on your needs, the frequency of sessions, and changes to your treatment plan.

  • You have the right to engage in a conversation about the fees and duration of treatment at any time.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
